Willy Ramos | New Paintings
November 25 - December 17, 2016
Champagne Reception: Friday, November 25, 6-9 pm
Odon Wagner Contemporary is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new paintings for contemporary Spanish artist, Willy Ramos. With their loose, expressionistic brushstrokes, simplified forms, and explosions of bright color, his garden scenes look back to Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies” studies with the added exuberance of Wassily Kandinsky, Henri Matisse and the Fauves. Moreover, his lush nudes and sculptural female figures call to mind the Tahitian paintings of Paul Gauguin. In addition to his work as a painter, Ramos is a teacher at the Escuela Bellas Artes in San Carlos, Spain, where he himself studied.
