ZHANG HE | new paintings

This prospective exhibition will be Zhang He’s fifth solo show at Odon Wagner Gallery. The new body of work continues the artist’s expressive and gestural approach to painting. Influenced by the techniques of Les Automatistes – the Quebec avante-garde artists of the 1940s – Zhang He approaches each canvas with a stream of subconscious energy to define what will follow. Employing his hallmark impasto technique, the artworks become a synthesis of painting and sculpture, topographic representations of energy, emotion, and soul.
