Dianne Flynn was born in the town of Huddersfield, England situated halfway between Leeds and Manchester. She studied art in Huddersfield, at the Manchester School of Art. She lived for many years in France, first in Languedoc and then later in Normandy. In 1976 she married Paul Hedley who is also a talented figurative and landscape artist.  They now live in the south of England.
