Li Zhe was born in Bengbu, Anhui Province in 1961. He served in the navy as a clerk painter in 1982. Three years later,  Zhe enrolled in the Fine Art Academy of PLA for two years of extensive study. The artist now works as a teacher at the Bengbu United Art College.

In his work, Li Zhe infuses his still life paintings with European techniques and a Chinese spirituality, resulting in a truly unique style.
