Sun Zhen Yuan was born in Bengbu Anhui, China in 1965. In 1984 he enrolled in the Anhui College of Professional Training and upon graduation, in 1987 began his painting career. Today, Sun Zhen Yuan lives and works in Shandong Province; he has exhibited extensively, with shows in Japan in 1993, Hong Kong and Malaysia in 1995, and Toronto in 1998. The artist’s work is held in many international private and public collections.

In his work, Sun Zhen Yuan explores methods of personification in realistic paintings of natural objects. Through sensitive observation of the physical world the artist is able to instill in his subjects a sense of moral and spiritual purity.
